The anomaly of Pinterest is that, unlike most other social-media sites, a large number of ordinary people (that is, non-celebrities) can amass millions of followers. It's called power pinning. And, we've always wondered how it happens. Must you have an extremely refined eye, or is it just plain luck? Turns out, it's a little bit of both.
This month, we joined forces with the lovely L.A.-based artist Satsuki Shibuya to create our own spring-inspired board, and we thought it the perfect opportunity to discover what the path is to gaining a legion of followers. Her secret seems to be a combination of being very pin-happy, having good taste, and not caring too much. (So, that's what we were doing wrong.)
