And thanks to social media, living vicariously through others has basically become a national pastime. And no wonder it’s addicting: We’re able to see foreign countries and cultures up close through other people’s eyes, and get to know places that we might have not otherwise known much about.

Recently, it seems like everyone and their mother has been jetting off to places like Portugal and Iceland, because like fashion trends, cities also go in an out of style.
