VICE Enlists Unsavory Literary Characters For A Fashion Shoot

Sure, you could do another editorial featuring Lewis Carroll's sweet, young Alice, or maybe foist one more Daisy Buchanan shot on the public. But if you're the fashion department at VICE, the less charming literary characters of the Western cannon probably align better with your brand than that little girl who fell down the rabbit hole.
In "Phonies," VICE's new editorial shot by photographer Ben Ritter, we get a fascinating smattering of unsavory fictional stars including Holden Caulfield playing with himself in the men's room, Lady Macbeth dressed in a fetching beige-and-blood number, the preppy drug dealer Michael Pemulis of Infinite Jest, and Captain freakin' Ahab. Heck, even one of the most frequent subjects of fashion editorials, Lolita, appears with the always-creepy Humbert Humbert. And the usually dapper Jay Gatsby lies stinking drunk on a pool table.
Granted, there are probably a few other folks out there who we'd rather hang with, but at least these semi-fashionable characters are less boring than that wet blanket, Alice. Click through to see our favorites, and then head over to VICE to meet the rest of this motley crew. (VICE)
