Julia Kugel is probably best known as the front woman of Atlanta-based garage rockers The Coathangers, but she's also capable of far mellower sounds when recording solo under her White Woods alias. The project's newest single, "Big Talking," has Kugel in wispy Americana mode, sparely strumming her guitar behind soft and soulful vocals. "Quit your big talking / Can you tell I'm barely listening?" Kugel asks like she's begun to fade away into the ether. The result is a song saturated with quiet melancholy, whose gossamer fabric feels ready to tear apart at any moment. Check out the premiere of the beautiful new track below and be on the lookout for her new 7" via Suicide Squeeze.
