If you grew up in the '80s, love cult movies, or have to motor if you want to make it to the funeral on time, then avert your eyes. In fact, consider moving continents. Because, for some horrible reason, Bravo is announcing its intention to turn the beloved, dark comedy and influential teen movie and bible, Heathers, into a television show.
Should you recall (spoiler alert) the ending of the movie, you would remember that Veronica Sawyer (Winona Ryder) saves her school from blowing up but loses her super hot/definitely sociopathic boyfriend (Christian Slater, at his finest). It isn't exactly cheery, to say the least, but apparently the new series aims to focus on Veronica's daughter and a new group of bullies called The Ashleys. The only redeeming piece of news is that Jenny Bicks (who worked on The Big C and SATC) is in on the project.

Look, expounding on the smart satire of Heathers would take longer than a post — it wasn't about bullying; it was about the dangers (and chicness) of being "cool." But, we can't help lament that nothing is sacred (as there may be nothing MORE sacred than Heathers). The decision for Bravo to turn this into a television TV show has us wondering...what's their damage? (Gawker)
