We know you love Chicago's local designers just as much as we do, so we'd like to share some snaps from an up-and-comer catching our eye. Enter: City of Win, a lifestyle and street-wear brand that launched last May by four local guys who have an affinity for Chicago and hip-hop music — which pretty much sums up what their brand is all about.
Staying true to these interests, the fall/winter '12 lookbook showcases the brands' take on iconic Chicago designs in pieces such as statement T-shirts and oversized sweatshirts.
"For the styles themselves, we looked towards Chicago's sports and historical culture," says cocreator Greg Morrison. "We have designs that play off Bulls and Bears colors, a spin on the logo for the Union League Club of Chicago, and our Second to None T-shirt — which is our way of saying that Chicago might be the Second City, but it's first class all the way. We have a collection that we're proud to take into the cold months to come."
Modeling the wares? Buzzy Chicago hip-hop, indie rock, and neo-soul artists, including Esquire and Epic of BBU, Mig Mora, Ryne Estwing and Alissa Eiesland of On An On, and Lili K. And to highlight the diversity of the city, the lookbook was shot all over Chi-town in neighborhoods like Pilsen, Wicker Park, Lawndale, and the South Loop.
