Fendi Holds The Ultimate Live Art Installation

Fendi's "Fatto a Mano for the Future" (hand-crafted for the future) event with ArandaLasch arrived in New York last week after stops in several other cities across the country. At a live installation in Fendi's Fifth Avenue window, passerby could observe architectural team Benjamin Aranda and Chris Lasch working together with Fendi's artisans to create what the collaborators call Modern Primitives—modern, architectural structures created using Fendi's old-world Roman Craftsmanship. These pieces are constructed using foam, diamond-shaped forms and Fendi's luxurious Selleria leathers, their colors carefully chosen to compliment Fendi's spring '11 line (and certainly perks up what has certainly been a grey couple of days here in the city). The Modern Primatives project began last year and has been showcased at both the Venice Biennale and Design Miami, so we're thrilled that these beautiful, crystalline structures have finally made their way to the Big Apple and applaud the beautiful marriage of modern architecture and fine fashion.
Fendi, 677 5th Avenue (between East 53rd and East 54th streets); 212-759-4646.
