It’s About Time: Designer Katie Ermilio Makes Her Chicago Debut

Think back to what you were doing when you were 12. We don't know about you, but visions of cruising the mall with pals comes to mind (in between dance lessons and keeping up with our math homework, of course). For now-designer Katie Ermilio, spare time was spent experimenting with textiles. She even created her dress for the eighth-grade dance (seriously.) Impressive? Sure — but when you're the granddaughter of Grace Kelly's personal clothier and your pop owns a custom clothing shop, you could say the fashion world is in your cards.
Flash forward. Katie is now the ripe old age of 27 and has already graced the pages of pubs like Vogue, Women's Wear Daily, and The Wall Street Journal for her gorgeous designs. Oh yeah, and she's also been featured as one of Crain's 30 under 30. Not bad, Ermilio! Up until now, you'd have to shop for her wares online or out of state, but with the recent launch of an exclusive capsule collection at Barneys New York, you can walk yourself over to the Oak Street store instead. The fourth-generation designer incorporated sharp tailoring and soft drape (her area of expertise) to create timeless, feminine dresses. And with pops of color like peacock blue and sunny yellow, spring is closer than you think.
