See Billy Zane & Desirée Rogers — Snaps From Public’s Anniversary Bash

PUBLIC hotel flashed back to 1977 Tuesday night for a far-out, Studio 54-themed, one-year anniversary bash. Famed hotelier (and co-founder of the popular New York night club) Ian Schrager was present, hobnobbing with esteemed guests such as Desirée Rogers and B.J. Armstrong. A cool personal touch? The inclusion of personalities DJ Johnny "Jellybean" Benitez and doorman Mark Benecke — two original Studio 54 alums.
But the largest attraction of the evening was the action on the dance floor. The renowned Pump Room restaurant was transformed into a thriving disco, complete with flashing lights, high-energy '70s tunes, and coveted VIP seating, where Chicago's finest had a bird's-eye view of all the action. Sirius Radio fan? Perhaps you heard the live interviews and the event’s music on its Studio 54 Channel throughout the night.
Schrager has turned down numerous requests over the years to host an event of this kind, so why Chicago? With the Windy City being the first in the PUBLIC portfolio, it was simply his way of saying thanks for making year one such an amazing success. We'll toast to that.
