If your neighbors are having loud sex, you probably wish they would stop. If you're having loud sex, you're probably worried your neighbors can hear you — or you're having so much fun that you don't even care. It's easy to see this conflict from either side of the shared wall. But, for Caroline Cartwright of Tyne and Wear, England, loud sex led to an arrest — and even to jail time.
After scores of complaints from irate neighbors who took issue with her screams of joy (and with her iron headboard banging on their shared wall), Cartwright was served last year with an an Anti-Social Behavior Order (ASBO), which is essentially the British version of a restraining order. She was forbidden from making "excessive" noise during sex; she refused to comply. Charges were then filed, and Cartwright was sentenced to eight weeks in a bail hostel.

But, she was unrepentant, and a year later was charged again — making her a repeat loud-sex-having-offender. This time, Cartwright was put away for 12 weeks. She's still committed to having pleasure the way she wants to, though, telling the Daily Mail: "I don't see why I should stop having sex in my own house with my husband of 38 years."
We're all for cordial community relations — and we're only hearing one side of the story here — but policing peoples' sex lives to this extent is pretty extreme. Who wants to donate to a Tyne and Wear Kickstarter for thicker walls, earplugs, and maybe some sex toys for the neighbors? Let's make everyone feel as good as Ms. Cartwright does.
